I hope you all are having a great week so far. Monday is over which is always good news. Y’all, I cannot say enough good things about this yellow tie crop top from Thirty One Boutique. The pattern is to die for and the tie in the front completely makes the top one of the cutest crop tops I have ever owned. As soon as I got this beauty in the mail, I knew that I wanted to pair it with a pair of high rise flared jeans. Flared jeans have always been one of my favorite styles of denim and I am so glad that they came back in style. I love how they elongate your legs and they can really be paired with just about anything. I especially love them with sweaters, crop tops and bodysuits.
So I am 5’7″ and it is always hard for me to find flared denim that I can wear heels or wedges with (because we all know that I rarely wear flats haha). Just about every single pair of flared jeans I try on are always too short. I FINALLY found the perfect pair last Winter and I have been wearing them like crazy ever since. These are a little pricey but totally worth the money especially if you think that you will have them for a long time. I also linked my favorite distressed pair for you.
Now onto the important stuff. I am not sure if some of you know, but my husband and I attend Elevation Church in Charlotte. The days when we aren’t able to actually make the service we always end up watching it online. Steven Furtick, the head pastor, posted something today on his Instagram page that really touched me. It said “The attitude of your heart reflects the activity of your mind”. It was then followed with this bible verse: “My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”-Proverbs 4:20-23. This really hit home with me as I read it. Really try and think about the words: the attitude of your heart reflects the activity of your mind. Isn’t that so powerful to think about? I have been really down about some situations in my life lately and have found myself feeling very bitter about things which has caused me to dwell on negativity. Seeing this quote and verse kind of put things into perspective for me. It made me realize that I have got to change the attitude of my heart before my thoughts can be more positive. I prayed this morning for God to allow me to see the positive in situations and to love people who have hurt me. If I dwell on the negative or have hate for people in my heart, then it is only going to hurt me in the end. If I forgive them and love them, then my thoughts and the rest of my life will be so much better. God wants us to be happy and to forgive. We can’t have a bitter heart. If we do we will only keep thinking negative thoughts which will only continue to pollute our minds. I don’t know about you but I do not want to have a polluted mind all day everyday. I want to change the attitude of my heart so that my thoughts throughout the day can be positive and pure. Thank you Lord for the gift of forgiveness. He forgives us for all of our sins so how in the world can we not forgive others? This includes people in our lives who have hurt us and situations in our lives that have not been the most positive. This also means forgiving YOURSELF. My goal for my life and yours is to forgive and to let go so that we can move on and live a happy life that God wants for all of us.
XOXO
Friend! I Love this post so much. The posture of our hearts is so important and it's something we all forget so often. I'm so glad Steven's words resonated so much in your heart. Praying that this is something you will continue to remember! I love Elevation services!
Thanks for your sweet comment friend and for taking the time to read my blog post. I appreciate it more than you know! Yes, Elevation is truly the best! 🙂
This is such a powerful quote. I find myself thinking negatively too – so I'm definitely going to take your words to heart. Laurenwww.belle-lu.com
Thanks for reading Lauren. I am so glad that you were able to relate in some way. XOXO
You could not have said it better! Our heart truly does determine our attitude and our actions. Stay positive girl! You have so much to smile about! 🙂
I love that verse so much! We all find ourselves thinking negatively from time to time, that's just the flesh but what a great reminder God gives us in this verse. Don't let the troubles of this world polite your mind and heart. We have definitely been through a rough year but as you stated, those that have caused your pain, my pain, according to God's word, must be forgiven, as he forgave us for our sins and shortcomings. Leaving your father was the hardest thing I've ever done and I'd be lying to you if I said I didn't have days where I was so angry at him for the choices he's made that led to that day. However, I can tell you that I have forgiven him and I pray that God will restore him gently. That he would show your father that despite the things that have happened and all he has lost, I pray God shows him that he can still have a life worth living, outside of me and I pray he does so for you!!I want nothing more than for you and him to have a relationship again. I love you for your transparency and I know how hard it is from day to day, so please know that although today may be a good day, tomorrow might be hard. Remember that forgiveness only hold you (us) captive and once you truly surrender, the days will get easier! I love you so very much and I'm so proud to call you my daughter! I thank God for you and all you are and all you're yet to be!! He's not finished with US yet!!
First off, love these jeans! I am 5'4 so finding flared jeans that fit me is an issue too… so I feeeeeel that struggle! You look gorgeous, as always.Secondly, YES MA'AM! I have heard pastors say things like that before and it is soon true. Often times, at least I think, we hold onto hostility towards others if we think they have "wronged" us in some way. But God calls us to be bigger and love others well. Making sure your HEART/attitude is in line is SO important. Anyone can put on a "everything's perfect" face, but the heart and/or your thoughts are what matter most.LOVE this post babe! Happy Wednesday!xo,Kelly Hoover | http://www.theglamorousteacher.com
I love how honest and open you are in this post! Everything you said is so true and something I will also keep in mind. ❤️❤️

You look gorgeous as always Katy! And I love that quote from your pastor! I really needed to hear that. I have been holding on to some negativity and finding it hard to stay positive and this is a great reminder that we have to change our hearts so that our minds can be more positive. I really love that. Xo, Steph
I love this post Katy!! It is so easy for all of us to have a negative mindset about things going on in our lives, but it is important to stay positive and to leg go and let God! 🙂 Thanks for the reminder <3lots of love,Rachelwww.looklovelyliving.com
