Inside: What you need to make your trip memorable while staying cool and stylish!
Summer is in full swing and a great past time for you and your family to have a day full of fun is an amusement park!
We are local to the Charlotte area so Carowinds is a hop skip and a jump away. Now that Harper is 2 and is old enough to enjoy, we took her recently and we had a BLAST!
If you’re headed to a theme park during your upcoming family vacay, it’s time to start thinking about how you’ll look while having fun. Sure, it can be hard to find cute outfits for yourself, let alone for someone else. But don’t worry girl — I’ve got you covered!
The key to pulling off cute theme park outfits is simple: Comfort first. The next more important is that you actually like your outfit! I think we all enjoy wearing clothes that make us feel good, right?

What I Wore

This traveler dress from Abercrombie is a no brainer for a full day at the amusement park. It has built in shorts and sports bra which is a game changer, trust me! Shorts are a must if you’re planning to ride any rides.
This is also one of those dresses where you can throw on without worrying about getting it dirty because the material makes it super easy to clean.
I wore this with my On Cloud tennis shoes and popped on my favorite Ray Bans and we were rocking and rolling.

If a dress isn’t your thing, you could always go with joggers or athletic shorts. Both are going to be a really comfortable options, but of course you’ll most likely be cooler in shorts.
Give these super cute Vestique jogging shorts a try. With a thick band, they’ll be comfy even if you’re sporting a little baby bump like me at the moment!
Pair your joggers with a cute and comfortable tee and don’t forget your comfy shoes. You do a LOT of walking at these places.

You want kids to be comfy too of course, but you can have a little more fun with their outfits!
Harper wore this lightweight top and shorts from Gap and some cute white Keds with socks. Making your kiddo wear socks with tennis shoes is a great way to make sure they won’t get little blisters, but packing band aids with you in your bag at an amusement park is also not a bad idea just in case.
What To Wear To A Waterpark
Carowinds has a waterpark attached so we spent half the day riding rides and then got to cool off in the pool.

When I saw these matching mommy and me swimsuits from Minnow, I could not resist. I mean, can you even?!
The best part about these suits is they provide good coverage and I didn’t feel like either of us were tugging or pulling at our suits while we did a LOT of moving and playing around.

Don’t forget to pack your:
- Sunscreen – Even though there may be shaded areas, you’ll be spending a lot of time in the sun so sunscreen is a MUST.
- Water bottles – I can’t stress enough how important it is to stay hydrated! There are places around amusement parks to get free water so take advantage of that.
- Snack containers for littles – You can typically bring in any kind of water or snack into an amusement parks and not only does it save you money, it can save you time if your toddler starts to have a meltdown. Ask me how I know 🙂
- Harper isn’t potty trained yet, so if you’ve got a little one who isn’t either, make sure to pack some extra diapers and wipes in your bag.
- Towels for the waterpark
- Sandals or slides for the waterpark. Nobody likes wet socks.
- Extra hair ties. When yours breaks, you’ll want a backup I promise!
- Misting fan. Just trust me!
Theme park outfits need to be comfortable and practical, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun with them too. Just make sure you are cool and comfortable in whatever you choose! With a little planning, you can have a great time with the fam while staying cool and comfortable all day long!
XOXO,
Katy
