I hope that you all had an amazing weekend! Ours was an eventful one for sure. One of my best friends in the entire world got ENGAGED!!!! When her now fiancé texted me last week to tell me that he was popping the question I was so happy that I cried. Liz has been a dear friend to me for over a decade now and I have never seen her happier with anyone than she is with Conor. I truly feel like they are a perfect match for each other. We had a surprise engagement party for them on Friday night and it was so much fun celebrating them all night. I can’t wait for many more celebrations! On Saturday we had people over at our new house to watch The Master’s and it was so much fun. One thing that I love more than anything is to host so I was so happy that we were finally able to have people over!
Can we take a second to talk about this beautiful slip dress from Free People?! I ordered this recently and when I got it in the mail and tried it on I just about DIED. It is possibly the cutest dress that I have ever owned. The fabric is so, so soft and the pattern is so much fun. I don’t think I have ever seen a pattern like this one before which is why I was so drawn to it. What I love most about this dress is that it comes in SO many other color options. I had the hardest time picking which one I wanted. It comes in this beige color and it also comes in pink, red, blue, black, and so many more. I have linked all of them for you above and below. This dress does fit TTS, I am wearing my normal size XS that I always wear in Free People. This is a dress that I am so excited to be able to enjoy all Spring & Summer long. It is one of those that can be easily dressed down with sandals and easily dressed up with heels and the right jewelry/accessories.
Okay, so let’s talk about self tanners. A question I get a lot is what self tanner I use and which ones are my favorite so I figured I would go ahead and answer all of those questions in this blog post. Below are all of my favorite self tanners and descriptions for why I love each one. I own each of these self tanners and use all of them just as much. I think it’s fun to switch them up sometimes!
1) St. Tropez Self Tan Dark Bronzing Mousse– This is probably my number one favorite self tanner that I use. I notice the biggest color difference and look the most tan after using this one. If you are are pale, I would recommend starting out and using the St. Tropez mousse in the medium color because the color dark might be too dark. I have native american in me so I tend to have a darker skin tone in general which is why I like to use this color. For application, I simply use a sunless mitt like this one and rub the product in a circular motion all over my legs, arms, stomach, chest, neck, and face. I do use this stuff on my face and I have never had any irritation or break outs. I either have my husband rub the product onto my back or I just won’t do my back. Since my back isn’t really visible that often, I don’t mind not putting it on there every now and then. The only thing I don’t love about this stuff is that it can leave you feeling a little sticky and it does take at least 30 minutes to dry. It does have a little scent to it as well but it’s not anything that really bothers me.
2) St. Moriz Fast Tanning Mousse– I just got introduced to this brand and I love it so much already. It is way cheaper than the St Tropez and I feel like it is pretty good quality in comparsion. This is a fast acting tanning mousse so this is good to use if you want a fast tan in 1-3 hours and don’t want to have to wait 6-8 hours like you do with other self tanners. I’ve used this before in the mornings before a photoshoot, waited 3 hours, showered, and then got ready for my shoot. It is perfect for days like that when maybe I didn’t have time to put on tanning mousse the night before. I have found that this stuff dries very quickly, doesn’t leave you feeling sticky, and doesn’t have a bad scent. I also put this on my body the same way that I do St. Tropez.
3) Tanceuticals CC Self Tanning Body Lotion– If you prefer to use a body lotion over a mousse then this self tanner is perfect for you. I have been using this brand for over a year and I love it. I also use a mitt when putting this on my body but it is way easier to apply since it isn’t a mousse. It’s as easy as putting regular lotion on. This also comes in a medium and dark color. I use the dark color and also put this lotion on my face. I have never experienced any irritation or breakouts from putting it on my face. It does have a little bit of a scent to it but other than that it is great!
So there are my 3 favorite self tanners to use. I think they are all great in their own way and it is definitely worth trying all of them at some point to see which your favorite is. St. Tropez is more expensive than the others but I just love it so, so much. It definitely gives me the darkest tan. Here are also some self tanning suggestions and pointers that I have:
- Always apply it right before you go to bed. Most self tanners need at least 6 hours to sit on your skin before showering. The only self tanner that you don’t have to put on right before bed is the St. Moriz fast tanning mousse. Just make sure you give yourself 1-3 hours before showering when using that one.
- Make sure to exfoliate before putting it on. I either use JR Watkins Body Scrub to exfoliate my body or I use this exfoliating loofah and just use my normal soap. Both work just as well.
- Make sure to put a little bit of body lotion on dry areas of your skin such as your ankles, knees, and elbows before application.
- Make sure you let the self tanner dry for at least 30 minutes before getting into bed. This is crucial for not getting any of the product on your sheets or bed. If you don’t give the self tanner enough time to fully dry, then it is likely that you will get it on your sheets.
- Rinse your mitt out with water and let it dry in between every use.
- I apply self tanner every 3-4 days so about twice a week. It seems to last a good 3-4 days for me in between applications.
- My self tanner does not get streaky or splotchy when I work out or sweat. I don’t notice a difference at all so don’t worry about that.
- Don’t worry too much about getting the application just right. When you shower, the tan evens out pretty well and ends up looking natural. It’s impossible to get it perfectly in every little spot.
- Make sure to read all of the directors on each self tanner bottle. This is what I do and following the directions has worked great for me. It tells you exactly what you need to do.
Okay, that’s about all I have for you guys as far as self tanners go. I hope that this was helpful and if you have any other questions let me know. Hope everyone has a great week!!
XOXO,
Katy
