Eeeeeek! I am SO excited to finally share my big closet reveal with all of you! I meant to do it earlier but with COVID and quarantine taking place, I wasn’t able to get pictures as soon as I wanted to. California Closets did my entire closet design/install and I could not be happier with how everything turned out. It is just incredible and better than I could have ever imagined.
I worked specifically with designer Whitney Hahn from Charlotte California Closets and I could not recommend her enough. She was such a joy to work with and always made sure she saw my vision through plus was very mindful of my budget. If you are in Charlotte and are looking to get any kind of closet done in your house, I highly recommend working with Whitney! She has done a lot of my other friends’ closets as well and everyone has been so happy with her work.
The design process with Whitney Hahn was seamless and I seriously could not believe how easy everything was. She came over, I showed her some examples of what I wanted the closet to look like, we talked through my vision and what I wanted functionality wise, she took measurements and literally within 20 minutes she had a complete design created. The coolest part to me was that she had a full virtual design of the closet and what exactly it would look like in my room right on her computer to show me within minutes of measuring the room. We were able to make any tweeks to the design right there in person and made the design perfect before she even left my house. I loved how I got to really see the design in my room. I am such a visual person so that really helped me to make sure the design was perfect for my space.
Since blogging is my full time job, I really wanted this closet to be a space where I could easily keep everything organized and easy to get to. One thing that I did not have enough of in my last house was hanging space. I was constantly running out of closet room and it was pretty stressful so I love that we were able to add 2 extra spaces for hanging clothes in the closet design. It has been SO helpful for my job and it’s been a place where I can organize what clothes I still need to take pictures in, do try ons for, etc.
I also wanted to make sure that I had plenty of drawer space for things like jeans, shorts, under garments, etc. All of the extra drawer space has been super helpful. I haven’t filled all of the drawers yet and still have plenty of room for extra things which makes me so happy! There’s no better feeling than having plenty of storage space.
Of course, I also had to make room for shoes and purses which is why we incorporated all of the open shelving into the design. I really wanted all of my purses to be on display and my shoes to be out in the open so that I could easily find them and style outfits. I love the way all of this turned out!
Another solution that Whitney really helped me with was a solution for all of the jewelry that I have. We added in the jewelry drawers and not only are they absolutely beautiful but they have so much functionality. They have been so easy to organize and I love that I can now see what jewelry I have and easily style outfits versus going through a ton of jewlery bins like I used to. Having everything together and organized in one place has been so nice.
Another feature that I really love about my closet that Whitney recommended to add is the extra garment hanger that pulls out from the right side of my closet (see pictures above). This has been great for when I am styling outfits, packing outfits for a trip, and even steaming clothes. It serves as a great additional hanger for organizing/outfit planning and I love that when you are done with it, you can just push it back in so that it is out of the way.
One thing that I was really impressed with about California Closets is the quality of all of their materials. We decided to go with gold hardware on everything and the hardware is so nice and such a gorgeous color. I’m also very impressed with the quality of the shelving. You can tell it isn’t a cheap material and will last forever. They have tons of different options that you can go with. The options are seriously endless and you can look on their website for any closet inspiration. Charlotte California Closets also customized and installed our pantry closet, hall closet, and guest room closet and we were so happy with how those turned out as well! Whitney also helped me design these closets and she did a fabulous job! I think I may use her to redo the nursery closet soon!
Another thing that I really love about this room is this Shop Andis List gold garment rack that I have to the right of my closet system. It is SO gorgeous and such great quality. I don’t think you could find a better garment rack anywhere else. I absolutely love the gold hardware. It really is just a beautiful piece and I love that it is on wheels so that you can easily move it. You can order it in different sizes and they also have a lucite one that is just stunning! They also have kids clothing racks if you are looking for one for your nursery or kid’s rooms! I use this garment rack to hang my longer dresses on so that they don’t get wrinkled. It has been so perfect for that. You guys can use code KATY10 for 10% off their entire shop on Etsy. The discount is good through August 22nd!
Again, I cannot rave about California Closets enough. If you have a closet need, they are the people to go to. You will not be disappointed and the customer service/turn around time is amazing. I specifically want to thank Charlotte California Closets and designer Whitney Hahn for building and designing my dream closet. They truly made everything come to life!
Thank you to California Closets for helping to sponsor this blog post. As always, the thoughts and opinions are all of my own.
XOXO,
Katy
