I hope that everyone had an amazing Christmas! I can’t believe it’s already over but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t really excited for the New Year. A lot of you may not know this but the past few months of this year have been pretty rough for me. From dealing with anxiety and depression to getting out of my workout routine and gaining a few pounds to having very little interest in doing much of anything. So I am ready for a new start, a new beginning and I feel like ringing in the New Year is a perfect time to reflect on what you want to change and make better in your life.
Some of the things I want to work on is working less and being more present, going to church every single Sunday, doing my devotional every single morning right when I wake up, and spending more time with friends and family. But one of the biggest ones is getting back into my workout routine and working out at least 5 days a week plus eating healthy. With my depression came a set back in my workout routine and I found myself lying around more than anything and with that comes unhealthy eating habits. So I am very excited to start being healthy again!
It can be hard to stay motivated to a workout routine. In the past I did the Kayla Itsines BBG program consistently for 2 years so I wanted to share a few tips that help to keep me motivated.
1) Working out in the mornings. Working out in the mornings is the best thing I can do for myself. The best part about is that you get your workout over with and don’t have to think about it for the rest of the day. It also makes my day SO much better. I start my day off with the best endorphins and having accomplished my workout already helps me be motivated to accomplish everything else that I have for the day. I worked out every morning at 6:00 am for over 2 years and I can’t wait to get back into that routine.
2) Finding a workout routine that works and that you love. This is very important. Not every workout is going to be the right one for everyone. You have to try out different things to see what works for you and what spikes your interest. The worst thing is a boring workout that you dread so I really do suggest trying as many as you can and seeing what works for you. I have recently gotten into cycling classes and I absolutely LOVE them. It’s a workout I never thought I would love so I am so glad that I made myself give it a try because it’s such a great cardio workout and one that I look forward to.
3) Find a reason to workout. For me, the biggest reason I work out is because it helps me so much with my depression and anxiety. It really is the best thing that I can do for myself. Some people workout to lose weight, some workout for the social aspects, some workout to maintain their healthy lifestyle, some workout to clear their mind. Whatever it is, find out what YOUR motivation is and stick to it. I feel so much better when I work out and I am in such a better mood so when I start to second guess whether I want to workout or not I remember that amazing feeling I always have when I leave the gym and that helps motivate me to get out of bed.
So those are 3 of my biggest workout motivations and I hope that they can help you some. Another thing that really helps motivate me to get to the gym are cute workout clothes. I mean seriously, who doesn’t love to show off a cute workout outfit?! Hey, whatever works right?? Haha.
I recently shopped the Aqua Athletic line at Bloomingdale’s and I absolutely loved what I picked out. When I work out I love to be comfortable so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this cute “Will Sweat for Tacos” tank. The saying is hilarious on it (and accurate) but the material is SO soft and so easy to throw on over a sports bra. I also loveeeeee these jogger leggings that I got. I love how they look like joggers with the draw string but they fit and function like normal workout leggings. I got the size small and the compression and fit is perfect.
The Aqua Athletics line really does have the cutest workout clothes. You have to check it all out by clicking on this link here. Right now I have my eyes on these cute camo leggings and this amazing Mixed Media Jacket (perfect for those cold mornings to the gym). Everything is great quality and the fit is amazing so I hope you guys check them out. I know I will be buying a lot more before the New Year. I am linking all of my favorites that they have right now below for you to check out.
Thank you so much to Bloomingdale’s for sponsoring this post. As always, the thoughts and opinions are all of my own.
XOXO,
Katy
